QUALITY & INSPECTION

Quality is controlled by the approved specification—not by a generic “premium” label.

As a merchant exporter and sourcing partner, GM MARBLE WORLD coordinates lot selection, dimensional checks, surface/finish review, project-specific technical testing and pre-shipment evidence across selected Indian manufacturing partners.

OUR QC WORKFLOW

Seven checkpoints from specification to container release.

Natural stone is inherently variable. The goal is not to pretend every slab is identical; the goal is to manage variation against an agreed sample, lot and technical requirement.

01Requirement ReviewMaterial, approved sample, finish, nominal thickness, dimensions, tolerance, application and quantity are frozen before release.
02Source Lot SelectionLots are visually screened for the required tone, movement, veining, filling, fissures and natural variation appropriate to the approved sample.
03Dimensional & Surface InspectionThickness, length/width, flatness, edge/chip condition and finish are checked against the agreed project criteria.
04Technical Tests When SpecifiedThird-party or manufacturer test reports can be coordinated for absorption, strength, abrasion or other project-required parameters.
05Shade / Lot ApprovalSlab photographs, bundle/lot references or dry-lay review are used where shade continuity is critical.
06Packing AuditCrates/bundles, separators, edge protection, identification and raw-wood packaging requirements are checked before dispatch.
07Loading EvidenceContainer condition, stuffing photographs, seal reference and final document pack form the pre-shipment evidence file.

TECHNICAL VERIFICATION

Test the property that matters to the application.

Technical parameterCommon dimension-stone referenceWhy a Gulf project buyer may ask for itOur approach
Water absorption / bulk specific gravityASTM C97/C97MHelps compare absorption behaviour of dimension stone; relevant to wet/exterior specification and maintenance planning.Coordinate a test report when required by the consultant/specification.
Compressive strengthASTM C170/C170MUseful as one element in comparing load-bearing/compressive performance of dimension stone.Use tested values, not marketing assumptions.
Flexural strengthASTM C880/C880MRelevant where slabs/panels experience bending; the standard allows wet-condition testing when required.Match test condition and stone orientation to project need.
Abrasion resistanceASTM C1353/C1353MUseful for flooring/foot-traffic comparison; laboratory abrasion is only one factor in actual wear performance.Use where traffic and finish make it relevant.
Dimensional tolerance / flatnessApproved project specificationCritical for tile/slab installation, joints, levels and façade/fabrication coordination.Record actual measurements against the buyer-approved tolerance.
Gloss / surface finishProject-approved sample / agreed methodHelps keep polished/honed finish consistency across the supplied lot.Visual and instrument checks can be documented where the project asks for them.
TESTS ARE PROJECT-DEPENDENTNot every stone or application requires every test. Final acceptance criteria must come from the architect/consultant, contract, approved sample and applicable standard. We do not claim blanket laboratory certification for every catalogue product.

GULF-SUITABILITY REVIEW

Useful claims are specific, measurable and application-led.

Instead of promising generic “UV protection” or “water resistance”, we focus on the exact stone, finish, environment and technical data available for the job.

EXTERIOR / UV EXPOSURENo blanket “UV-proof” claim.

Exterior suitability depends on the stone mineralogy, colour, finish, resin/filler/sealer system, fixing detail and exposure. We match material selection to the project specification and can coordinate supporting technical data where available.

WATER / MOISTUREWater absorption is measurable; natural stone is not universally “waterproof”.

Absorption behaviour can be assessed through recognized testing. Sealers may reduce staining or ingress but do not turn every stone into an impermeable material.

HEAT / GULF CLIMATEApplication and finish matter.

For exterior paving, façades, pool decks and exposed areas, surface finish, thermal movement, slip, substrate, installation system and maintenance plan should be reviewed with the project consultant.

WET / HIGH-TRAFFIC AREASPerformance is a system decision.

Stone choice should consider absorption, abrasion, slip strategy, chemicals/cleaning regime, edge treatment and installation—not appearance alone.

BUYER EVIDENCE PACK

What a professional buyer should be able to review before release.

01Approved sample / lot referenceMaterial identity, shade/vein reference and agreed finish.
02Measurement evidenceThickness, size and other dimensional readings where required.
03Surface & defect reviewFinish, edge/chip, filling/fissure and visual lot photographs.
04Technical reportsManufacturer/third-party test reports when included in the project requirement.
05Packing evidenceCrate/bundle protection, markings and shipment identification.
06Container loading packStuffing photographs/video, seal reference and shipment documentation.

ACCEPTANCE LOGIC

Clarity before shipment reduces disputes after arrival.

AApproved sample governs appearanceNatural variation is assessed within the approved sample/lot expectation.
BWritten tolerance governs dimensionsDo not use a universal ±1 mm promise unless the project specifically approves it.
CTest report governs technical valuesPublished or supplier data is not substituted for a required project-specific report.
DPre-shipment evidence closes the loopOur target workflow is to release cargo after the agreed QC checklist/evidence is complete.
